LUCKHNOWI
Lucknow city is world renowned for its traditional Chikankari Embroidery. Chikankari is also called as shadow work. The word 'Chikan' is basically derived from Persian word 'Chikeen'.
The patterns and effects created depend on the stitches and the thicknesses of the threads & fabrics used. Some of the stitches include backstitch, chain sitch and hemstitch. The result is an open work pattern, jali (lace) or shadow-work. Often the embroiderer creates mesh-like sections by using a needle to separate threads in the ground fabric. It consists of 32 stitches, from which 29 to 30 stitches are all present in these Vilaasinie lucknowi sarees. the beauty of this saree is further enhabced with mukesh work which is a very common & ethnic technique used in sarees & fabrics to give a formal look.
These sarees are ready to wear with satin facing & tassels.
